Welcome to First United Methodist Church!

Welcome Newcomers

flatironsWelcome! We're glad you are spending some time getting to know our church. First United Methodist Church of Boulder is open to newcomers from all backgrounds and religious traditions. Some of our members have been life-long Methodists, whereas others had previously never attended a regular worship service in any religious tradition.

As an appealing community with a first-class university and close proximity to the mountains, Boulder attracts a wide range of individuals from those in college to those enjoying retirement, and our church reflects this range. If you are searching for a new church home, we encourage you to consider us.

Everyone, regardless of gender, race, class, age, ability, religious affiliation or sexual orientation, is valued and welcomed as beloved children of God and followers of Jesus. Individuals are welcome to attend and fully participate in services, programs and ministries without being members of the church.

Communion Sunday is usually the first Sunday of month. Our congregation believes that Communion should be shared by all who wish to participate, including children. You do not need to be a member of the church, or indeed, of any church to receive Communion at First United Methodist.

True to our rich Methodist heritage, we believe the words of our founder, John Wesley (1750), “If thy heart be as my heart, give me your hand.” However our beliefs may differ, we are one in our faith journeys and one in the spirit of love as taught by Jesus Christ. We invite you to learn more about our church, our commitment to the Reconciling Ministries Network, and the numerous ministries that are an integral part of our service to our congregation, the community, and the world.

New members are welcomed into the congregation during a regular Sunday service at any time of the year.
