Children's Programs
Children are a vital part of our congregation! We take their education very seriously; they model love and liveliness for all.
Every Sunday
Children’s Sunday School
(9:00 - 10:15am) is for nursery through 5th grade. Sunday School will be changed dramatically from years past to use a relatively old model called "W.O.R.M.", which stands for workshop rotation model. A Chicago church started this model of Sunday School in the mid 90's as a response to the decline in attendance of children during the traditional educational hour. The rotation idea is based around the theory of the many ways in which children learn lessons. Each rotation is a different style of learning, encompassing everything from crafts to cooking to computer-centered learning. Many churches in the nation and even here in Boulder have applied this model to their Sunday School and each and every one raves about the way children react and learn from it.
The workshop rotation model can be executed in many, many ways with many, many different ideas. While large churches may have up to seven rotations and as many classrooms for varying ages, our church will employ one large classroom (as we have done the last two years in Children's Church) and have one rotation each week of the month. Our four main rotations will be: music and drama, cooking, arts and crafts, and movie time. Each month is a different lesson or story and each rotation of the month is centered around learning this story. For example, in September, the lesson surrounds creation and for the cooking we will be making dirt brownies with gummy worms! How much fun!

Children’s Parable
(10:30 - 10:40am) is that special time at the beginning of the worship service, when all of the children are invited before the congregation to listen to and interact with one of our co-pastors, director of children’s ministries, or puppet ministries.
Children’s Church
(10:40 - 11:30am) is during regular worship hour and is for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Older children are welcomed to the children's parable early in the general worship service in the sanctuary, after which they leave for Children's Church. During Children's Church, they will experience the same aspects of worship, in age-appropriate activities, that occur in the sanctuary. Each week the kids will begin our time by lighting the Christ candle, and worship God through speaking, music, and movement. We will include calls to worship, litanies, an offering, prayers, Bible stories with activities, and benedictions. Through these practices, we believe that your child will be equipped to more fully experience and understand these rituals as they engage in worship beyond the 5th grade.
A Nursery
(9:00 - 11:30am) is provided during the duration of Sunday school through the worship service for infants and children through age three. Parental pagers are available upon request.
