Adult Education
Dawn Markova in her book Open Mind
states: “To be educated is not so much to be taught
as it is to be awakened to who you really are.”
Adult
Education at FUMC offers a wide variety of classes and workshops to
help one find ways to awaken to oneself and attend to the voice of
Christ within. In all our programs, we hope people find new
ways to relate to themselves, each other, and our world so we find a
burning desire to serve and be spent for others.
We
currently offer the following classes and workshops as part of our
Adult Education:
Short Course: How do the teachings of Jesus address the social issues of our time?
Lenten Study: Who was the historical person Jesus of Nazareth?
Available at three class meeting time options:
Sun. mornings, 9:00-10:00 am (shorter version) - Feb. 21-March 28
or Monday evenings, 7:00-9:00 pm - Feb. 22-March 29
or Thursday afternoons, 1:00-3:00 pm - Feb. 25-April 1
Self-Directed Christian Learning
Just What You Need Know Now to Grow Spiritually
Our congregation has long been known for its commitment to the best, cutting-edge Christian education. In addition to our many study opportunities in groups and classes during the year, we have a unique Theologian in Residence program that brings outstanding scholars to us on a regular basis.
Now, we are creating the opportunity for each of you to tailor your individual Christian learning according to your unique needs. We have lists of resources for self-directed study (hard copies of the lists will be available for those who don’t use the internet). Just examine the lists and then contact Keith Thompson to get the materials (revkeitht@comcast.net or 303-907-2206). He can also assist you at each stage of your study.
